Edison’sWaste Assessment
Edison students started the year out strong by performing their very own Waste Assessment. See how they did it in a step-by-step process, easy for any school to do.
In the first year of the program, Edison has:
·
Held two assemblies for the whole school to make sure everybody knew about the new recycling program.
Cut down on the use of disposable cups by purchasing reusable stainless steel coffee mugs for the faculty.
Students, parents, teachers, and administrators enjoyed a potluck dinner for the Green Lawn Party in September.
Reusable lunch bags were sold and information was provided on Edison’s new green initiatives.
Parents were encouraged to bring reusable containers, two recycling stations were set up, and compostable forks and knives were purchased.
Edison Elementary was also featured in the August issue of the North Denver Tribune for receiving the Green Up Our Schools grant.
